Stinky!!!

One day it was bound to happen but I still wasn't ready for it..  YUK YUKKY STINKY!!!

Not sure where Walker was but after our after noon walk in Timber Park, doing our training and walking and getting both of us frustrated, Walker needed some alone time with out Mom.  He sat in the house a bit pouting and then decided he wanted out the door.  I obliged him accordingly but when he came back he had that dreadful smell all over in his beautiful white hair that is so beautiful under his chin.

I finished my dinner sort of gagging and thinking what and how will I get that smell off of him???

With the kitchen all clean and dishes away I decided I would try the kitchen sink.  Times like this, how I wish I had a laundry tub.  To my surprise Walker just stood in the sink and didn't do too much snooping for things in the window sill, so I suds him all up and took the spray hose and got him rinsed off and looking beautiful again.  Now lifting him up and out was another task that had me in distress but it went so well I couldn't believe it until  you know what----he started to shake and there was water everywhere in the kitchen.  That is what towels are for right????

Truly I think he is happier too now that he doesn't stink, as he is full of energy and wants to play.  Just another day with my every so energetic Walker.

Slippery Steps

The steps leading off of our back deck are made of wood so with the rain  this winter they were getting really slippery.  I seem to be a bit  clumsey from one from time to time and  I have proved it by slipping off those very steps and making quite a sight.  Fearing that someone other than myself could take a tumble I decided to take care of the problem.

Promptly went to the hardward store and purchased the perfect item to solve the problem.  Now the directions said to have the wood nice and dry and of course I knew better than to follow the directions exactly so I waited for a couple of dry days and figured that was good enough.

Went to the shop and got the big staple gun and measured the strips out for each step and went to work.  They looked good.  Nice and tidy.   I was so proud that I did the job to almost perfection in my opinion.

All was good until Walker came to live at our house.  It only took him a few times and he had the strips pulled up and mostly off of the entire step and out in the back hard to tear apart and drag all over.

So now it is CAUTION as you prepare to go down the steps especially if it has been raining.  There is no use it trying to do it again until summer because the wood is saturated.

Never a dull moment when there is a puppy in the house!!  He is still a joy and we do enjoy all of his antics.  There are more to come with each day.

Walker's New Hat

I almost forgot what those few days were like after Walker came home from the vet.  It was dreadful for him and me.
I had planned to have him neutered before we start our next set of puppy classes the end February so off we went a week and a half ago.  So hoping he would be a bit mellow when I brought him home was a real joke.
The vet said he would have to wear that "LampShade" for about 10 days.  YIKES!!
The only way I could keep him calm was to put him on his leash and take him out to do his business and then I would watch him eat and drink water and then put him in his crate.  That way he was enclosed pretty tight and couldn't get at the collar.

After a couple of days I would take the collar off and watch him ever so close so he wouldn't start scratching or biting at the incision but as soon as he started in I would put it back on.  It was so large he would bump into the walls and it was difficult for him to see really good.

Thanks goodness it didn't take a week and half but it was close.  He is now free of it and really frisky.  OH! that was another thing the vet said, don't let him jump or get excited.  Well that didn't stop him one bit.  Someone told me I should have named him WildMan Walker.
